Hum....So I haven't been updating this blog as often as I'd hoped. I do have an excuse; I've been busy! Much to my surprise, my work schedule over the holidays was insane. Things have settled down for the time being and I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on a few items.

We've started a new thing at church where we listen to a few versus of the New Testament every morning on CD or tape. It usually only takes about 10 minutes worth of time in the car and is a good way to start the mornings. We're still in Matthew though we're making good progress. It's interesting to listen to the bible versus reading it. Having gone through the whole book several times already I didn't know what to expect. Makes for a good way to get to work and to finish waking up on the road.

Blogging is an interesting medium of communication. I've never been much of one for journaling and certainly not one for baring my soul to strangers. My former roommate Gabe (his blog is linked on the sidebar) recently went through some troubling times and shared it all with the world on his blog. I don't know if I could do something like that. For those who know me, I'm not shy about myself but there's something _permanent_ about posting to to internet. After all, the 'Net never forgets. So, I haven't decided yet exactly what I want to do here. Do I make this a philosophical blog to discuss deep and important things or do I keep this light-hearted and just go over my sometimes-interesting life? Questions, questions!

New lights have arrived for the hallway! Yes, after a couple of years of thinking about changing them out I finally did. Last saturday my power went out for about five hours (found out yesterday it was due to grass fires burning down the lines - good times) so I figured I'd make use of the time. I hate fooling with the switchbox, and since the power was out....two birds with one stone!

You can see the differnce from my poorly placed pictures above. Hey, I'm still learning how to use this interface!

Change of Seasons

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The sights, the smells, the cooler weather.....well, maybe not this year. Gotta love Texas weather! Here's a new recipe for some pumpkin cookies:

Pumpkin Nut Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup pumpkin
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1 cup each of nuts, raisins and butterscotch chips

Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 min or until the cookies turn golden-brown.

It's good stuff!

My first post

Gee...That must be first thing everyone says for their first blog posting. As my parents can attest, I've gotten behind on my email postings over the last few years so maybe this will make up for it. More to come.
